THREEFOOT HOTEL, MERIDIAN, A TRIBUTE PORTFOLIO HOTEL

This historic sixteen-story Art Deco style office building occupies a highly visible site on the corner of 22nd Ave and 6th Street in downtown Meridian, Mississippi. Originally completed in 1930, the building housed office for the Threefoot Realty Company.

With a prominent two-story base, setbacks at the upper levels, and an emphasis on verticality, the building’s organization, form, and massing are typical of Art Deco-era office towers. The Threefoot Hotel is one of only three Art Deco style buildings found in Mississippi. The structure is constructed of reinforced steel and concrete, clad with white glazed terra cotta on the first two floors, and red/brown wire-cut brick above. A granite base anchors the building. Portions of the exterior are trimmed with glazed polychrome terra cotta in shades of red, orange, gold, white, green, blue, and black, highlighting the building's intricate detail.

The Threefoot Hotel has been converted into a Tribute Portfolio Hotel by Marriott, housing 131 guestrooms, a Starbucks coffee house, meeting room, fitness center, restaurant, and a roof top bar, “Boxcar.”
