Employee Spotlight - Amy Finklea
At Campo Architects, we have some outstanding employees on our team. Each month, we’ll be turning the spotlight on one of our team members responsible for bringing our designs to life. Get to know Project Manager, Amy Finklea.
1. What first inspired you to pursue a career in architecture? Did you have any mentors that encouraged you?
I actually started out majoring in Interior Design for one quarter. My college advisor recommended that I switch over to Architecture based on my work product and ethic.
2. How do you like to spend your free time?
I love spending time with family. My other hobbies include photography and painting.
3. What has been your favorite project to work on so far?
I would have to say the Dillard Camphor/Hartzel dormitories. Not for its outstanding Architectural design, but rather for the learning experience I encountered on the project. This project occurred at a pivotal point in my career and I learned so much from it.
4. What advice would you give others considering a career in architecture?
Architecture is not for the faint of heart. This is something John mentions often and it’s true. It takes dedication and hard work. What you learn in school barely scratches the surface of what Architecture is as a profession.
5. Share a few things on your “bucket list” with us.
My bucket list needs revamping. Get married…check. Buy a house…check. Start a family…check. After starting a family, I haven’t had much time to think about what’s next on the bucket list other than survive. Kids are so much fun!
Campo Celebrates Thanksgiving with Annual Potluck
We got into the spirit of the holidays this week with our annual Thanksgiving Potluck lunch. Everyone whipped up some of their holiday specialties and enjoyed a terrific meal with friends and colleagues. Special to thanks to everyone who contributed!

Campo’s Director of Interior Design, Mary Gilmore, AIA, NCIDQ, recently attended the Boutique Design Trade Fair (BDNY) in New York. Highlights included education sessions about the latest trends and products in the hospitality industry and an exhibitor hall with a selection of design elements for interiors.

Progress on the historic project, Plant Riverside District in Savannah is making great strides. This 4.5 acre riverfront entertainment district will have over 670,000 sq ft of entertainment and hospitality space, along with three luxury hotels. Check out the video for the latest updates!
Employee Spotlight - Bryan Bradshaw
At Campo Architects, we have some outstanding employees on our team. Each month, we’ll be turning the spotlight on one of our team members responsible for bringing our designs to life. Get to know Bryan Bradshaw, an Architectural Designer.
1. Who influenced your decision to pursue a career in architecture?
My high school nurse gave me my first architecture book about Antoni Gaudí after she saw some of the art that I was making in my sculpture classes. I had very little knowledge of architecture and she opened my eyes to a wide range of possibilities of things that can be achieved through architectural design.
2. What is your favorite part about your job?
Learning little details about the differences in the layout and functions of spaces from brand to brand. Since starting to work at Campo, I now look at hospitality buildings from a different perspective. As a hotel guest, your experience is curated in many ways depending on your reason for entering (just for the bar, overnight stay, meeting, fitness, pool, etc). I have gained more appreciation for certain design decisions that I notice in the hotels that I engage with.
3. Do you have any hidden talents?
I can play the trumpet and guitar.
4. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Playing soccer, rugby, and metal fabrication/sculpture projects.
5. How do you think architecture will change in the next 10 years?
I think that in the next 10 years architecture will be even more focused on sustainable design. The construction/building industry heavily impacts our environment, so I think that designers and architects will be encouraged even more to design responsibly with respect to that impact on how the decisions we make on a singular building affect a larger contextual environment.
Kayleigh Bruentrup Completes NCIDQ Certification
Congratulations to Kayleigh Bruentrup on passing the final exam to receive her NCIDQ certification. She is now eligible to receive her Interior Design license! The NCIDQ Certification is the leading national interior design professional certifying organization. The three-part exam tests interior designers’ knowledge of core competencies required for professional practice. Her commitment to professional development is invaluable and dedication to the industry will only contribute to the firm’s continued success. Congratulations on this momentous occasion!
Mary Gilmore, AIA, NCIDQ Receives Emerging Professional Award from AIA Louisiana
Congratulations to Mary Gilmore, AIA NCIDQ for receiving the Emerging Professional Award at the AIA Louisiana 75th Annual Anniversary Gala last night.
The award, presented by AIA Louisiana, recognizes individuals who have shown exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the profession in an early stage of their architectural career.

At Campo Architects, we have some outstanding employees on our team. Each month, we’ll be turning the spotlight on one of our team members responsible for bringing our designs to life. Get to know Kayleigh Bruentrup, an Interior Designer in our Interior Design department.
How would you describe your style?
My style is a mix of chic glam and eclectic modern.
What’s your favorite part about your job?
My favorite part of my job is getting to see my ideas come to life in built work. Seeing an idea go from paper to something tangible is an incredible feeling.
If you could go anyplace in the world, where would it be?
I am planning a trip to Japan for next year and I am super excited because I have never been. I also want to go to Morocco, New Zealand, Iceland/Norway/Finland/Sweden, Patagonia, and India.
What is something people are surprised to learn about you?
I have three middle names.
What advice would you give to aspiring designers?
Design inspiration is everywhere, but don’t forget to keep up with current trends and recently built projects to stay sharp.
What would you most love to design?
I would love to design a cat cafe!
Campo Architects Celebrate Major Milestone with Topping Out Ceremony
Campo Architects, Marriott, Core Construction, and Guidry Enterprises celebrated a major milestone in the construction of Residence Inn on St. Charles Avenue. The event signified the first new construction of a high-rise hotel in New Orleans in over a decade. The topping out ceremony celebrated the placement of the final steel beam, signifying the next stage of the construction process. We’re proud to have partnered with industry leaders on this monumental project and are looking forward to seeing the completed project!
